Yellow Roses in Oil

Well I finally got the darned oil paint out and had a go at painting with it over the last few days and I am satisfied with the results. Although I had painted with oils when I was younger it had been years and I was a little worried about the smell and the cleanup, but it was fine and I have found a new love..
Getting the photos this morning was a whole other story as it is bright and windy out doors and I just had a heck of a time trying to get a picture that didn't have too much
glare as this baby is going to Ebay!

This is the best I could do for now and hey things never look as good as they do in person and this is no exception.
Next I have another lovely floral to finish that I had started last year that will be done on a black background so it should be quite dramatic.
Have a wonderful creative day! Tina xo

  2. Oh Becky you should have gotten them! About 10 years ago when I lived in Kansas City I was shopping in Barnes and Noble and they had some vintage ones of ladies with their outfits from the 1890's and 1890-1919 (gowns by Worth, Paquin, Lanvin) they were only $4.95@ at the time and I grabbed them like a child! I still take them out and look at them from time to time. I didn't cut them out but I still enjoy the looking.
Thanks for the lovely comment on my painting, I have already started another one. Soon I will be doing some lovely pink pastel ones!

  3. I love the new painting ... absolutely gorgeous. I have collected old rose paintings over the years and I just love them. I'm sure this beauty won't be on Ebay for very long.

  4. Hi Meg and thanks so much for the lovely comment and encouragement. I also have long admired old rose paintings and whenever I see one in a magazine on someone's wall I just sigh. It's exciting to now be doing a few in oil for the first time.
It's always wonderful when a fellow artist says something nice about your work so thanks again!

  8. This is beautiful Tina! I love the subtle colours and the hint of orange in the shadows between petals! One of my fondest summer holiday memories is from the summer after Grade 8 - my best friend and I wanted to paint; I'm not sure if it was da Vinci or Rembrandt that inspired us but she bought acrylics and I bought oils. We had a blast! I kept one of my paintings for many years after and every time I looked at it I went back in time to the smell of a hot, sunny day intermingled with the scent of turpentine. I think I just might have to go to the art store soon...
