Seagulls

I realized today that art is about more than paint and brushes, it's also about all the things that influence us each day for good or bad. In that vein, I will share the fact that I have 11 rescue cats that I love and care for. Twice each day I mix their dry food with a few cans of their favorite wet food and serve it up. Naturally there is always some left at the next meal and those leftovers belong to the crows/seagulls/starlings. I take it out to them and throw it in front of my home and they all feast in turn. It was something I started doing a long time ago during the winter months, but food is food and I abhor waste, so even in good weather out it goes for my feathered friends. I thought today I would post a picture of the gulls helping themselves.

  1. What a beautiful picture! We had two gulls at the coffee shop the other day, which is so unusual. I guess they were exploring, and it was fun to see them. Now, huge crows...we have more than you can count! They're fun too.

  2. Thanks Deb, I am still intimidated by digital cameras and don't know half of what one can do, but every once in a while I get lucky, :)

  5. Hi Sea Witch, I love water also and one of my big dreams is to save enough to move back to Canada and live in Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island near the Atlantic. And yes I am loving the blog kingdom and all the great people that inhabit it!

  7. Lovely job!!!! gosh I thought I was crazy with 10 cats... mostly strays I may add! All their excess food goes to the Racoons at night. My husband is always moaning about the amount of wet cat food we get through... but they love it,so I'm happy :O)

  9. Yes it was heartbreaking, she was a wonderful and faithful friend and she is sorely missed! Even some of the cats became depressed and one still likes to sleep with one of Lili's tennis balls.
