Well I finally decided to finish this painting this morning and I like it as it is so I forced myself to stop fussing and fannying about with it and call it done!
This was inspired by one of her early self portraits which I love the best because she portrayed herself in a softer way than later images that are more harsh.
So at last I am off to list it on Ebay and then start working on some cloth and clay dolls I have had pending for a few weeks. With all the rain this weekend it is the perfect time for sitting quietly and hand sewing.
Have a lovely weekend!
I like your portrait of Frida. Frida Kahlo was an amazing artist.
ReplyDeleteKeep on painting.

Beautiful painting Tina... I love it. Thank you for visiting my blog today... the raffle ends on 10th July, so thats 2 weeks!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your interest. I appreciate it :O)
Hi Abi and that is great news and gives me a chance to buy a few tickets. As I had mentioned awhile back our SPCA here is always hurting for money. And the shelter my sister in Montreal works with has 600 cats right now and vet accounts that are tapped out. Raffling art for the animals is a great idea!

Hey Maggie!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to find you had visited and left such a lovely comment on my art. I would love to do a blogazine for you, but first what is a blogazine? I am not to conversant yet with all the blog things, I just learned for my son via telephone to Missouri how to put a link on my blog...whew! I am a little intimidated by technology and absolutely hate goofing up, so tell me what I would have to do and I will give it a try. Love ya

Sooo beautiful ...your artwork is amazing...thank you for sharing..
ReplyDeleteWow, it's a beautiful painting. I used to dislike Frida Kahlo because I couldn't understand her bizarre paintings, but then I learned more about her life and all the pain she had been through, and I began to appreciate her art.
ReplyDeleteHi Koralee and thank you so much for that compliment. As an artist who had to wait many years to finally do what I wanted to do, it means so much when people enjoy my work. It lights up my world, thanks

Hi Olga and thanks for stopping by and making such a sweet comment. Yes Frida's art can be a little hard to take sometimes but she was a revolutionary woman who really didn't care what anyone thought of her, she was lusty and hard living and she never apologized for anything...go Frida! :)As a woman I admire some of her traits, not all, but some!
