Bruce Wayne

Yes I have a cat named Bruce Wayne! Why? Well he had a black face that for some strange reason extends up only half his ears and looks like a batman mask soooooo, Bruce Wayne :) He is a mischievous little monkey who never stops looking for trouble. Here I was trying my darnedest to get a good picture of him and he is trying to knock the camera down. "What's a matter Bruce, bad hair day?"
I have a few cats that enjoy hiding in the tall grass and scaring each other, and they will jump at any sound. I think that cats just know how to take a boring day and spice it up and make it special! I still miss my beloved dog Lili very much but these little guys try hard to fill the void and they do a pretty good job of it most days :)

Frida Self Portrait

I decided to do this self portrait of Frida again as I had been asked a few times if I would consider doing another one and putting it on Ebay, so today I finished it and listed it and now I can work on my dolls this weekend! Of course plans change and maybe tomorrow while the paperclay dries I may start another portrait. I have also felt inclined to do another Madonna and Child painting so I may sketch an outline for that this evening.
I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!
This is wonderful time to remember our folks in uniform and give a special thank you to them for all they do for us!

BE SAFE, STAND TALL!

Roscoe

I live in an area where some neighbors do not care for their pets in a way I would call admirable and quite often dogs are loose and meandering around. This fellow's name is Roscoe and as you can see he is a Pitbull. Now not everyone likes Pits and I will admit that when he first ran up on my deck early one morning I felt all the tiny hairs on my body stand up on end. Turns out though he is a sweety! So along with 4 or 5 others who get loose from time to time, he heads right over here to see if there are any leftovers or kitty food. How do the cats feel about this? Well although they loved our  dog Lili, who passed away last December, they are not thrilled about these new usurpers of the domain. Cats do love their peace and quiet.  And dogs represent chaos! Happy Saturday everyone!

Alas! It Begins

Well life intrudes: for the last few years my friend Julie and I have been helping a retired art professor who has been renovating and restoring a house from the late 1700's. We are somewhat experts on painting and not afraid of working with oil paint so we got the job. Don thinks we are pretty special painters and the pay is good so Julie takes the afternoon off from her regular job and we go paint for Don for 3-4 hours once or twice a week in the summer. Consequently my projects here will have to wait for the weekend to progress any further....oh well :(
Bonus! They have an amazing garden and are very generous with cuttings and transplants :)

Progress

It took a little work but I have done part of what I had set out to do and so far it is as I thought it would be. You can see I removed the drawers (which being used anyway) and am turning them in units for fabric. Inside the open space I will be putting a shelf so I can use that for storage also. So in a way I am doubling the usage of this old cabinet. It will need to be painted at some point, but so far I am happy with it! The shelf and mirror were also put up last night and give the space a cozy look. Still needs work but it's a start.
