Just Listed on Etsy

One Christmas I was given a little hand loom made for children and for a number of years I had loads of fun making little yarn pot holders and coasters. Recently while looking through some old Belle Armoire magazines I came across an article featuring little amulet bags woven on a piece of cardboard from scraps of yarn,
beads, ribbon....I guess you could pretty much add whatever you wanted to! It's easy and fun and once lined with a bit of cotton fabric, they could hold a couple of dollars or a debit card or small phone!
I ended up using some very old beads and a lovely yellow crystal, vintage yarns and old pieces of ribbon and although it didn't make much of a dent in my scraps box it was worth the effort in the fun I had!

(I hope these photos only showed up once but since Blogger and I have a friendly war going on they may be posted a few times...:( I have no way of knowing as to me they only show up once.)

If anyone would like to have the instructions from the magazine just let me know and I will be happy to pass them on!

Back To My Roots

When I was young my family was very poor and so most of the artwork I did was with pencils which was probably the best way to begin anyway. I learned about all the different grades of graphite and how to work with it using my fingers for shading.
As the years went by and I could afford more varied mediums I drifted away from pencils except for the starting sketch. This past week though I got a yen to gather all my different pencil grades (H's and B's) and sit quietly and try to reprise my youthful experiments.
Yes I gave in and added color with pastels and watercolors.
I took my inspiration from an old black and white photo of Frida when she was obviously young.
I still have so many projects I a trying desperately to catch up on but for today I am happy with what I accomplished!
I hope everyone else has had a great start to the New Year and I will be making the rounds and visiting all my favorite blogs this week to catch up on all the doings!

With much love to all......Tina xo

Post Holiday Blues/Purples/etc.

Is anyone else feeling a little anti-climatic this month? I guess after all the holiday prep it's to be expected that there would be a little static chaos (my expression for this feeling) following all the hoopla.
My way to deal with it is to make something or paint a little canvas and so this is what I spent the weekend painting hoping it would pull me out of my doldrums.

I am planning to do a few pencil drawings this week, something I haven't done in quite awhile, and maybe adding a touch of color with watercolor pencils!
Hey it might be fun and lift my flagging spirits!

How are you dealing with the after holiday slump? Or is it just me!!!
